- "Today, couples are formed and separated for reasons of dietetic and/ or ecological compatibility! "
Ecology is one of the essential concerns of our society. For some, preserving the environment is of paramount importance. And no question of acting irresponsibly towards the planet. When ecology interferes in couples, beware of eco-divorce!
There are many reasons for a couple to separate. Incompatibility of character, adultery, desire for change ... According to statistics, one on two marriages ends in divorce. Nowadays even ecologyhas become a cause of separation.
Divorce is not green ...
In 2008, U.S. scientists have studied the impact of the rising divorce phenomenon on the environment. They measured the expenditure incurred by couples who separate: it is 73 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity and 2 373 billion gallons of water could be saved in the United States.
But ecology is a cause for divorce
Green dating sites have recently made their entry on the web lately. Singles find people having similar interests. Vegetarians, environmentalists, animal rights ... All those reasons that help them to sympathize and unite are also the same reasons that bring to breaking. Today, couples are formed and separated for reasons of dietetic and/ or ecological compatibility!
"I love you but you love meat”, "I’ll ask a divorce if you swallow the steak ...”. A journalist from The New York Times described this phenomenon as eco-divorce. She speaks of Miss James, allergic to gluten, which separated from her partner because the latter did not stop eating bread. We also discover Lisa, a vegetarian who broke with her boyfriend. The reason? He wanted a beef rib!
We often hear that opposites attract. With the green wave sweeping the world, we wonder if this is still the case. Parting from someone for issues of diet may seem rather excessive. Especially when we already know how important it is to have a balanced diet. "If the virtues of fruits and vegetables are no longer to be marketed, the mentions for their use sometimes omit to precise that they must be part of a balanced and well varied diet," says the AFDN, French Association of Nutritionists and Dieticians.
